To ensure the safest environment and the clearest diagnostic images, please follow these simple guidelines before your visit. Most MRI scans require very little preparation, but safety is our priority.
Remove Metal Objects
Jewelry, watches, hairclips, and glasses must be removed before entering the scanner room.
Dress Comfortably
Wear loose clothing without metal zips or buttons. We also provide gowns if needed.
Important Safety Screening
The MRI scanner uses a powerful magnet. Please inform us immediately if you have any of the following:

- Metal Brain or Aneurysm Clips
- Cochlear Ear Implants

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that uses powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to create highly detailed images of your soft tissues, organs, and bones. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI does not use ionizing radiation, making it a safe option for repeated monitoring of various health conditions.
At LSRI, private MRI scans start from £425 per body part. This includes the scan itself, a specialist report from a consultant radiologist within 24 hours, a consultation, and access to your digital images. At our partner centres outside London and the South East, scans start from £375 per body part, without the specialist report and consultation. The exact price will depend on the area being scanned and any additional requirements.
While many of our patients are referred by their GP or consultant, we can also offer self-referral for certain scans following a clinical screening by our medical team. This ensures that the scan is medically appropriate for your concerns.
Most MRI scans take between 20 to 45 minutes per area. You will need to remain still during the process to ensure the highest image quality. Our radiographers will be in constant communication with you throughout the procedure.
We pride ourselves on rapid turnaround. You will receive a comprehensive written report from a specialist consultant radiologist within 24 hours of your scan. High-resolution images are also made available to you and your referring doctor.
